Compare the engineering priorities

Pin count does not identify the function

A four-contact interface might contain two power pairs, identification circuits or signal contacts. Confirm the device circuit, cable pin map and input connector before deciding what the assembly can transmit. A photograph cannot replace those definitions.

Review the full path when charging works but data does not

Follow the input connector, conductors, termination, magnetic interface, receptacle and PCB. A mismatch can leave charging functional while communication fails, changes with orientation or becomes sensitive to interference. Define the protocol, channels, length, shielding and test conditions.

  • Define charging-only, data, identification or combined operation.
  • Approve the pin map, voltage, continuous/peak load and host input.
  • Confirm cable length, orientation, mechanical space and release action.
  • Define ingress and environmental requirements for the assembled device.
