OEM / ODM magnetic cable customization

Move from a device requirement to a controlled magnetic cable assembly by confirming delivery scope, structure, pin assignment, electrical conditions, samples and production documents.

Start with the complete connection boundary

State whether the project requires a connector, cable head, device receptacle or complete cable assembly. Inputs may be USB-A, USB-C or a project-specific interface. Define charging-only or combined power-and-data operation before selecting the contact count.

Available customization includes geometry, pin layout, cable length and jacket, color, release behavior and agreed marking or packaging. Requested labels and compliance claims need supporting authorization or documentation.

Connect each requirement to a design decision

Electrical loadVoltage, continuous current, peak duration and thermal limits.Contact allocation, conductor size, resistance, voltage drop and temperature rise.
Data or signalProtocol, rate, channels, cable length and grounding.Pin map, cores, impedance where relevant, shielding, crosstalk and device tests.

Understand the cable assembly

  • Input connector receives power and, when specified, data.
  • Conductors and shielding provide the defined circuits along the cable.
  • Soldered or other approved terminations connect the cable to the head.
  • Housing, insulators and locating features control assembly and contact position.
  • Magnets assist attachment; the mechanical structure defines alignment and limits.
  • Spring contacts and the device receptacle complete the electrical path.

Balance retention, release and sealing

Magnetic force is not a value to maximize blindly. Specify seating, retention, axial separation, side peeling, cable load and user action. Mechanical guides and stops must keep contact compression within its approved range.

Ingress performance belongs to the complete interface: cable overmold, head insulation, receptacle, seals, mounting surface and device assembly. Define the test state, fluid, duration, pressure or depth and acceptance criteria.

A controlled development sequence

  • Requirement and feasibility review.
  • Approve drawings, pin map, cable construction and sample scope.
  • Produce identified samples and check device fit and function.
  • Validate the agreed conditions and close findings.
  • Release drawings, specifications, inspection points and packaging.
  • Run pilot production and confirm the production-control plan.

Prepare an effective RFQ

Send drawings or dimensioned sketches, available samples, application, electrical and data requirements, environment, sample purpose, quantities and milestones. Missing inputs can be identified during review, but assumptions must not be treated as approved requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Can we begin without complete drawings?

Photos, samples and dimensioned sketches can support an initial review. Approved drawings, pin assignments and acceptance criteria are still needed before production release.

Can the device receptacle be developed with the cable?

Yes, when included in the agreed scope. Review receptacle mounting, pin mapping, sealing and assembled fit together.

What are the sample cost and lead time?

They depend on structure, tooling, materials, quantities and validation work. Bella can coordinate a quotation after the project inputs are reviewed.
