Docking needs guidance as well as magnetic attraction

The connector must accommodate the agreed approach offset and movement without excessive side load or unstable contact compression. Mechanical guides, stops and mounting support work with the magnetic interface; magnets alone do not define a repeatable docking position.

Evaluate charging-only docks, detachable maintenance leads or power-and-data assemblies according to the actual system boundary.

Robotics and industrial input checklist

  • Docking offset, approach angle, contact travel, support geometry and release behavior.
  • Charging profile, continuous and peak load, cable conductor size, thermal limits and protection.
  • Protocol, signal routing, shielding and grounding requirements for data or control.
  • Dust, oil, moisture, cleaning exposure, vibration, impact and temperature range.
  • Cable routing, bend radius, movement cycles, sample quantity and expected production volume.

Verify repeated docking in the actual system

Check mechanical seating and electrical performance across samples, directions and repeated connections. When required, evaluate vibration, impact, pull, bending and environmental exposure with approved limits. A bare connector test cannot establish performance for every robot installation.

Can the connector support automatic charging?

Automatic docking can be evaluated when alignment tolerance, travel, electrical protection and device geometry are defined together.

How is a higher-current design selected?

Review contact allocation, conductor size, voltage drop and heat under the agreed continuous and peak charging conditions.

Is a stable bench connection sufficient for vibration?

No. Verify the mounted interface, cable load and agreed continuity limits under the intended vibration conditions.
